About Me

Makayla has been a member of the San Diego theatre community for almost 15 years, having worked for companies such as Cygnet Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse. She now serves as a resident critic for the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a Minor in Theatre at San Diego State University. Since 2022, Makayla has worked as the assistant editor at the San Diego Jewish Journal. Prior to her time at SDJJ and SDSU, she served as the editor-in-chief for Grossmont College’s newspaper, The Summit.

Makayla lives with her husband and their two cats near Balboa Park.
